Girolamo Mazzola Bedoli

Chiesa degli Eremitani di Sant Agostino, Parma, where the painting hung in the chapel of the Casa Terra-Rossa, fifth on the right, until the beginning of the 19th century;

Transferred to Paris in 1805 during the Napoleonic wars;

Acquired there in the middle of the 19th century by Henry Isaac Butterfield (1819–1910), and later moved to Cliffe Hall, Keighley during his refurbishment between 1875–1880 (renamed Cliffe Castle in 1880);

Thence by family descent until sold (‘The Property of a Lady of Title’), London, Sotheby's, 3 July 1989, lot 62, for £68,000.
